Instagram Love

I apologize for not posting this past week… I have been sick recently, but am finally on the mends! Phew, I am learning that the older I get the worse a cold virus feels. Sigh. πŸ˜‰ At least it was a virus that goes away!

Β In addition, I have been really busy working at re:loom this past week, photographing new images of rugs for their website (reloom.org). We finally have lights and a mini-studio set up! The photographs are turning out worlds better and I cannot wait till I can share them with you. In the meantime and, since I’m still feeling under the weather, I thought I’d share with you some Instagrams I posted (via my iPhone) over the past few months. If you’ve never used the Instagram App before, you need to check it out. It’s simple and easy and fun. You simply take a photo with your phone, or upload a photo, to share and then choose a fun filter to run your image through. A lot of the filters make the photos feel retro and vintage. You can also add blurs to the background if you wish to do so. After you are satisfied with your image, you have the option of writing a caption. The Instagrams show up in a feed on your phone. It’s addictive at first. But, at least it’s a simple concept. I love seeing how creative people get with their images. My Instagram username is purplenance if you wish to follow me (and if you don’t, I hope you will at least get enjoyment out of these images below)! Sometimes they are humurous. Sometimes they are artsy. And sometimes they are beautiful. I try to be playful as much as I possibly can. Β Here are some images I’ve posted fairly recently that I wanted to share…

Some statues I passed on a drive home from Greenwood, SC.

Holding onto nostalgia… The Nance Family recently purchased an Atari Lynx… Way ahead of its time. I played it in the 2nd or 3rd grade, I believe.

Interior view of Chattanooga, TN’s Train Station’s dome. I was in love with the design.

Our favorite neighborhood video rental store closed after Netflix stole most of their costumers. Sadly, I was given a subscription to Netfilx last Christmas, So I am equally to blame for this. It exists as a ruin now.

Gee… Thanks for the fortune. I feel much more confident about my future now…

Like father, like son. Rush plays disc golf in our backyard and hits the basket!

Rusted metal flowers.

The Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel. This is a view of the connecting hallway between two train car hotel rooms. So much fun.

Imagination… I loved how the light was hitting one of my kid’s soda and shining onto the word “imagination.”

Candle lighting at my parent’s church’s Christmas Eve service.

The words written under my Magic Hat beer bottle-cap. HA!Β

Thank you for taking the time to visit and view my blog!

As always, please feel free to leave any and all feedback.

Also, please LIKE my new blog page on facebook (my followers on fb don’t compare to the ones on WordPress… at least not at this time) Β πŸ˜‰

Peace, love until my next bloggy-blog post, dear fellow blog readin’ friends.

  1. Howdy Polly –

A few drinks of whiskey and it won’t matter how you feel, but heaven only knows what you’ll see through the camera.

A great set of photos, but that train station dome does create a unique design as an image, as I imagine it does in the dome, but then many people proabablyh walk right under it and never really pay much attention to it……

You’ll feel better soon – one day at a time – slow but steady !

    • Haha so true! I’m sure I’d see all kinds of things through the camera. Especially since I’m still feeling sick and, at this point, slightly delirious. HA! I’m glad you liked these photographs…. wish that dome was what my ceiling looked like! I don’t think anyone was paying attention to the architecture in that train station but me… most were focused on choo choo trains and Santa. πŸ™‚ Thank you for your comment!

    • Thank you! IPhones are amazing… didn’t know what I was really missing until I got one finally. So fun. But, distracting as well. Haha… can you believe that was actually my fortune in a fortune cookie? It is very true, however… πŸ™‚

    • Thank you… still feeling sickly but, hopefully, I will start feeling better one of these days… still have my Christmas tree to take down. I’m terrible! Ha. Thank you so much for your comment and I’m glad you enjoyed these images!

  2. Love phone pics! I used my HTC Evo for everything…it has some good effects and I found some photo editing apps. It made uploading with dropbox and the wordpress app super easy!

    • I forgot that I could load images through my WordPress App… HA! That would have been much quicker and easier. Thank you! Glad to hear I’m not the only one who loves taking photos with their phones… sometimes I don’t feel like lugging around my camera. Plus, I feel as if the photos are more truthful looking with less mega pixels. Thanks for your feedback πŸ™‚

  3. These are great! I love using Instagram, it is pretty addicting – and extremely easy! My name on there is “hsstanley”. I remember the Atari Lynx, my brother had one in high school, and I remember how excited he was to have it! I think, between my brother and my husband, the two of them have owned every single video game console and hand-held device ever invented!!

    • Thanks! I love that you know what an Atari Lynx is. My husband thought I had dreamed it up… I made him Google it! And then, he was so impressed with how far ahead of its time it was that he purchased one for cheap… so fun. Love playing Paper Boy. So cool that your brother had one… I learned about it (when i was in 2nd grade) from a high schooler on this trip. I think it must have been marketed towards older kids cause no one my age has ever heard of it. I’m not following you on Instagram, Holly! Look forward to your beautiful images πŸ™‚

  4. Howdy Polly –

One Cowboy’s Way was presented with the 7×7 award. I think we should call it the award for excellence in blogging content.

I nominated and believe your blog and contents are one of the best in the blogging world. Your photos are great, but you always have a great story to go with them

I’ve commented in this post yesterday, but I though this post would also be an appropriate spot for this message………….

    • Why, thank you! I’m so glad this post was a hit… was scraping for material and then I realized I had all these Instagram images I hadn’t shared on my blog yet. Thank you for your comment πŸ™‚

    • Ha no I wish! These photographs were taken over the past several months. I just hadn’t posted them to my blog before and, even though they were taken with a phone, I think these were worthy of being blogged about. Thanks so much for the comment! πŸ™‚

Let me know what you are thinking :)
