Today is Super Bowl Sunday..
But, since I know very little about the Super Bowl (GO GIANTS!) and what goes on in the world of football, I have decided to blog about another sport instead…
I wanted to take this opportunity to update those followers, who loyally followed my husband’s disc golf adventures through my photographs, and tell you guys that my husband, Ricky Nance, qualified for the amateur world championships (July 14th-21st in Charlotte, NC)!! He has improved greatly since he played in the USDGC last October. Two disc golf greats, Ken Climo and Dave Feldberg, ended up giving my husband a 30 minute private lesson the last night of that tournament. All Ricky did was ask Feldberg a simple technique question and it turned into a demonstration Click HERE if you wish to read more about the tournament and his private lesson. Anyways, back to the point.
The point? What was my point?! Oh… the world championships. Ricky did not think he had enough points to qualify for worlds (you accumulate points each time you play a sanctioned tournament and you have to acquire a certain amount before the year is up to qualify). He had less than two months to acquire 383 points. Playing in four tournaments, he was able to place 5th, 4th, 1st, 3rd, which gave him enough points to qualify. He is throwing further and putting more accurately. I am so excited for him and I cannot wait to photographically document the event!
For now, and in lieu of a Super Bowl post, I will give you a glimpse of our backyard… it has become what I refer to now as…
DISC GOLF WORLD!
Three baskets. 50 discs. And the constant sound of chains clinging in the background…
